Paz Alvarez Mendez
Paz is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Berlin. Having always lived in big cities, she draws her inspiration from people and urban landscapes. Born in Argentina in 1972, she studied Fashion Design at F.I.T., Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York, specializing in Costumes for Theatre and Dance; and has been working internationally in the fashion industry for 30 years now, further training and developing this expertise. Apart from designing bridal and evening wear, she is currently teaching design and textile courses twice a week. Paz also studied art at I.U.N.A in Buenos Aires, at Spring Street Studio in Soho, New York and at Duna Rolando’s Atelier in Berlin.
In her studio in Prenzlauer Berg she combines all these elements, narrowing the gap between fashion and art, to create innovative textile pieces that are now rapidly incorporating technology. Her work has been shown and published in different cities along her career.
