Sofia Nordmann

Sofia Nordmann profile

Sofia Nordmann lives and works in Berlin. As a German-Argentinian, she spends several years in Miami Beach, Paris, Hamburg, and Mecklenburg before studying art history and theater studies at Humboldt University in Berlin.

Her painting is strongly influenced by the light-filled atmosphere of Latin America. Her works are created from cut-up original texts and images on transparent paper, which she assembles into new, three-dimensional objects. By deconstructing and reconfiguring her original works, she questions the perception of reality—demonstrating that what appears visible is not necessarily what it seems to be. The tension in her images arises from the interplay of transparency and the fragmented recognizability of individual elements.
